Slimming Fashion Tips For Shoes
Believe it or not, choosing the wrong shoes can ruin your well planned effort at trying to look slimmer.

As with everything else, proportion is important. For instance, if you have large legs, very high thin, narrow heels can make your legs look even bigger because of the contrast between those skinny high heels and heavier legs. If you are a larger person, go for a medium shoe, nothing too dainty and tiny or too large and clunky. You don't want a lot of contrast.

Shoe Color
Typically, your shoe color should either match or be darker than the color of your clothes. Matching shoes look great because they create that vertical line that we've mentioned on other pages. An overall vertical line elongates your body and makes you look taller and slimmer. Keeping shoes the same tone as your hose tends to lengthen the leg.

Shoe Shape
Pay attention to the shape of your shoes. Square toes and chunky heels tend to make you look shorter and your legs look heavier. The area that covers the top of your foot (called the vamp) is also important. Too high up on the foot towards the ankle shortens your legs. Low cut vamps help lengthen the leg.

Shoe Height
High heels can elongate the leg and look sexy. A medium to narrow heal of moderate height is a good way to help your slimming effort. If you like flats, go for a 1 inch heel rather than a completely flat shoe because even a 1 inch heel can help you look slimmer.

Minimize Flaws
Don't draw attention to your flaws. Ankle straps draw attention to larger ankles so avoid them unless you have well formed ankles. Pointy toed shoes make the feet look narrower and longer. Wear them if you have small, wide feet but not if you have narrow, long feet. White shoes have a tendency to make your feet and ankles look bigger so avoid them if you have large feet or big ankles. If you have larger feet, try to buy shoes that don't have extended soles (soles that extend slightly around the edge of the shoe itself) because extended soles make the feet look bigger.

Wear the right shoe for the outfit
Try to match the style of your outfit with the right shoes. Don't wear hiking boots with a skirt, clogs with formal wear etc., you get the idea. Cover the top of your boots with a skirt or pants. Don't wear boots that end half way up your leg with shorter skirts because they tend to make one look shorter and chunkier by cutting the body where they end. You are striving for one long vertical line, no horizontal lines that cut the length of the body.
